Faces of Service: Savannah and Lily
This month we are lucky enough to have two faces of service, Savannah and Lily.
From launching the Jireh Fund to support families in need, to rescuing chickens and advocating for White Ribbon, their efforts show the power of youth-led service. Their school’s Service Learning program has helped them turn ideas into action—organising fundraisers, building a school garden, and even creating reusable period products.
"What I would say to other students is to ask: Ask the community and school what they think is important to change, for their ideas on service. Ask for support, and back your project up with research and people who believe in you. Then find people around you who are able or willing to help with your project as a team to make sure it runs smoothly. The worst thing that they can say is no!
Students, I know that it may feel that we aren’t heard. But you are heard, you are seen, no matter the difference you make, big or small, the work that you do will be noticed." - Lily
Their journey proves that small actions lead to big change!
