We did a good job with our food drive for our local RSPCA and have helped our community for Christmas!!
We paired it with Keep NZ Beautiful week and involved not only our Volunteers, but students from across the school to help collect rubbish around the school and community.
Our focus was the Tuki Tuki River, which is a point of study for us in science, a swimming spot for students in the summer, and also a dumping ground for rubbish. Our council do a good job at keeping our parks clean, but the river edge is lacking in sufficient clearing. Because our waterways are so important, our intermediate students were involved in the clean up around this area.
We gathered 7+ bags of recyclable materials and a 3-4 bags of rubbish.
