As a local community project, a group of Year 9 students decided to ‘Fill a Shoebox’ to place under the Christmas tree at Te Takere (our local library). The boxes are for kids whose parents may not have the means to do Christmas gifts for them.

After the initial decision making, students popped into groups to fill the box. This was all organised and completed by the students.

One group showed great initiative and chose to put baking in the staffroom to raise funds. They raised $41 that was then spent on filling boxes. This group of girls thoroughly enjoyed this process – especially spending the money for others.

The boxes were popped under the tree on the 1st December.
