Chief Picker for SVA Grocery in Christchurch, Vanessa, told us about the highlights of her volunteering as part of the lockdown grocery delivery service: “One of my favourite moments volunteering was every morning I did deliveries being greeted by the loveliest check-out girl at New World Ilam, who always had a smile on her face and nothing was ever a problem, especially when I went way over budget and had to return fruit and veges here and there to get below the spending limit.

She also made my day by giving me a box of chocolates and a beautiful note (which I have attached) Our supermarket workers deserve a massive thank you as well!”
