10 ESSENTIAL LESSONS:
Sustaining a Youth Movement

SVA & Parkland: Sustaining a Youth Movement

From the 23rd to the 27th of July 2018, 28 student leaders from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, visited the 30 members of the Student Volunteer Army Executive in Christchurch, New Zealand for the Christchurch and Parkland Youth Summit.

10 lessons were identified by the two groups from their own experiences as essential to the starting and sustaining of a youth movement for greater change. These have been captured in an instructional poster for use by other budding youth movements.

Accompanying this is a document which details the proceedings of the Summit – the groups involved, its coordination, the activities of the week, the background to the 10 lessons, and the goals made by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students for their actions on their return home.
