Ridgway School have done a few things.
One was to have a market day for charity that raised over $1,500 and we are donating that money to Women’s Refuge, SPCA and Free Wellington Ambulance.
We are asking these charities to come in next term, so we can present them with those giant fake cheques as we have already paid the money into their accounts.
Our market day included the whole school and the students sold the usual market day baking, but also ran treasure hunts and sponge throws to raise money for their important chosen cause.
As part of our inquiry into charities our students have been working on learning about charities and what they do, and they have invented their own “charity”.
We are having a celebration of this tonight when parents come in and donate (with fake money) to the most well thought out charities.
