Otago SVA

Who we are

Welcome to the Otago Student Volunteer Army!

As students from both The University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic we come from a variety of volunteering backgrounds.

Our mission is to enhance the culture of meaningful volunteering in Otago, bridging the gap between students in Dunedin and their wider community. Alongside the Student Volunteer Army Foundation Trust, we endeavour to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our practices and commit to working towards the Sustainable Development Goals with our projects.

Our Kaupapa

As a club, we want to give back and support our local communities, as well as develop our members to thrive from the experience. To achieve this, we aim to bring accessible volunteer opportunities to Otago students so we can truly connect with others beyond the tertiary campuses.

We strive to partner with existing organisations that share our values and goals, by providing the necessary people power to combat the different issues these organisations are tackling with their mahi.

In 2022, we will continue growing our club, expanding platoons, and fostering significant relationships such organisations throughout Otago and beyond.
