Ohau Gardeners from Ohau School.

Our focus for the term was sustainability within our school. A group of students in Room 3 was already involved with the Nature Club where they were researching into the different species discovered in our School Ngahere.

The second group was the Ohau Gardeners and they came up with a way to restore and sustain the school gardens which had been neglected since our property manager had taken leave for health reasons.

Integrated lessons were in strands of measurement, statistics, social science, literacy, health and PE students were involved with planning, researching, weeding, clearing, germinating, planting, transplanting and growing. Each of the groups are prepared to continue to work on growing their plants and vegetables so that our gardens will be sustainable.
