At Mountview School, we have been trying really hard to engage with and build relationships with our local elderly community.

We have held two ‘get to know you’ morning teas, the first one was unsuccessful but we didn’t give up and doubled our attendees at the second-morning tea, with two lovely ladies turning up for a bikkie and cuppa. Once we got chatting they mentioned that at other retirement communities they had kids come and perform for them, but this didn’t happen in their community – so we decided to put on a show! Off we went with our instruments and singing voices to perform a 20-minute variety show. We only had 5 elderly in the audience but that did not stop us.

The next project we have in the pipeline is helping to clear out and replant a veggie garden for one of the gentlemen in the community.
