Mission Heights Junior College was on a mission to rid reserves of rubbish and invasive plants. 9W1 supported ‘Enviro Week’ and organised a Student Army rubbish collection at the Silvana Reserve in Mission Heights – it certainly was a real ‘dumping ground’. Kate Loman-Smith (Manukau Beautification Trust) and Sarah Peters from the Auckland Council supported our organisation in this.
The students even found a big dead turtle in a plastic bag that had been eaten – not to mention a treadmill, chairs, buckets and LOTS of litter.
Great work team!
