Room 18 Enviro Squad from Melville Intermediate.

The Room 18 Enviro squad wanted their project to be based around our local Mangakotukutuku Stream which runs through our local suburbs, connecting to the Waikato River.

Students made contact with the local Mangakotukutuku Stream care group and the Hamilton City Council looking for a project that we could help with.

As a result, our class took on a community planting project at Sandford Park, planting 280 native trees and shrubs.

Some of these plants are very rare and unique to Hamilton.

Our class enjoyed our experience and are looking forward to doing further plantings later this year.
