Katikati Primary School’s Nifty Knitters in action, learning to knit their first Peggy Square for blankets to donate to our local Plunket. In all, 370 Peggy Squares were knitted and crafted together to make several cot blankets.
The conversations between students, grandparents and members of our community were priceless!
We have been learning to knit with the help of volunteer adults who have come into school to teach the students and to help them make Peggy Squares. We have then sewed the squares together to make Baby Blankets for Plunket. All the children have learned to knit & they have done something positive with the knitting by helping other people.
