JOHN MCGLASHAN COLLEGE

John McGlashan College

We have completed two projects this year.

We decided to raise money for the local Otago Community Hospice. The students hosted a work weekend, where the students did odd jobs for people and raised money. We aimed to complete four hours of work each. When we pulled the money together we raised $4100. The Hospice was very grateful and we will continue this activity annually each year from now on.

We also started a community service of cleaning the Hospice vehicle fleet, which travels to the far reaches of the Otago backcountry and collects a lot of mud. They have around 200 patients they visit using the vehicle fleet. The task takes 10 students around 2.5 hours. We will continue to complete this twice a year.
