The project was to enhance a dull driveway that served 4 different communities: Hastings Central School, Kowhai Special School, Hastings Central Hub Dental Clinic, and The Small Bore Target Club. The class donated $2 each to buy plants such as flowering creepers, and the School Enviro Group donated flaxes and grasses from their propagation unit.

Everyone had their badge, card tasks, and walked many Kms transporting soil from the School Community Garden to the project site so the plants went into good soil.

The project went over two days with the preparation, then two lots of planting.

The student platoon learnt about planning, cooperation, collaboration, as well as some hard work.

The site looks much more appealing and welcoming. It will look even more so when the vines have grown and flowered.
