Frankton School

Room Seven at Frankton School has been studying the effect of rubbish on our environment.  We researched the time it took for various items to decompose. From this information, we realised that plastic was causing a major problem on  Earth as it can take up to 1000 years to decompose.

We spent 5 days collecting plastic bags and were amazed when we counted them. There were 986 plastic bags altogether! We problem solved ways that we could reduce, reuse or recycle plastic bags to lower the amount used.

We made a decision to make reusable material bags so that we could encourage our whanau and school community not to use so many plastic bags.

The students loved the project and are happy to be helping the environment.
