Our platoon has made a start on helping out our local Playcentre. We sent some troops to ask the Playcentre children and parents how they could help at the Playcentre. The parents were keen for some support with gardening at the centre and they have also suggested the children could make some picture books to add to their library for the children. We are still working on the picture books but we have had our first working bee in Week 9 of Term Three. Ten children spent time planting strawberry, lettuce and parsley plants with the Playcentre families. They also got their gloves on and weeded all of the gardens. We are looking forward to continuing our visits to the Playcentre next term – we are planning some baking and building projects to do with the children.
