CUST SCHOOL

Cust School

The Cust Cadets have had a fabulous 5 weeks focusing on serving our community. Our Chemo Kits crew raised $300 by organising a sausage sizzle outside of the Rangiora Warehouse store. They sourced free vouchers from Rangiora New World to buy supplies, sold out in no time, and put together 10 amazing bags of toys and activities suggested as being appropriate by a family recently affected by a child with cancer.

The Cust Kitties held a bake sale and made $311 to go toward cat traps to capture feral cats in our district, which will then be neutered before being released. The SPCA Duo held an alternative mufti day, where students brought food and bedding for the SPCA. We have a mountain of goods to donate!

We also had 2 groups visit a local rest home, where they played games (one team had learned some card tricks especially!) and brightened the day for the residents.

Another group are still in limbo, after managing to convince the local Council to fund an upgrade of the local BMX track, which they will then work on themselves when the materials are delivered.

This has been a fantastic exercise – the resources have inspired the kids and they are keen to do more projects soon.
