We had been looking for a project in our community, then we heard of an adult special needs Kapa Haka group that were fundraising to go to a festival next year. Our two classes, Team Kowhai, had a mufti day and the students brought a donation.

We raised $153 which was presented to the group. They came and performed for us and in turn we performed for them.

For our SVA project, our Tamariki made Boomerang bags for our local supermarket. The students are trying to reduce the use of plastic bags to save our ocean. Year 6 from Ākonga Māori worked with Mel Mcgregor’s class of year 6 students.

Our class project was to beautify our school and community through painting!
