BERKLEY NORMAL MIDDLE SCHOOL

Berkley Normal Middle School

On Tuesday 7th of November, rooms 19 & 22 travelled to Raglan Beach to do a litter clean up as part of the S.V.A project. The trip became possible after organising sessions in class where the students were involved in researching & planning everything for the project.

When we got toRaglan, we gathered at the playground and met Bob MacLeod from Raglan Naturally. He assigned us areas to clean then we gathered into our groups that we’d organised back at school and set off. We spent just under two hours cleaning up the Raglan area. We picked up a variety of weird and wacky things, but luckily we had gloves on.

When we got back to the playground, we sorted our findings into recycling and rubbish. Overall we had about 8 black bags of rubbish – which Bob arranged to be taken away.

After we had done the work, it was time for the fun. We had hot chips on the beach and a dip in the water.

Room 20’s Games Day was an absolute smash! 220 year 1 and 2 students from Hillcrest Normal School participated in a wide range of fun activities, run by our Platoon.

Everything was organised by Room 20, down to the scheduling, liaising with principals, and health and safety forms.

The feedback from the teachers and students involved was very positive. Room 20 represented their school and SVA project with pride.
