Our student project only had a few students involved. They are planting the bank of a frog pond at Nga Puna Wai, Christchurch. The pond is close to our junior school site and when we move back into town next year, we would like to leave the pond in better condition than we found it.
One of the events we held this year was a dress-up day/student disco to raise cans for a can drive for the City Mission. One of our students, Arnau Marginet, created his own music for the event. With the help of a parent who provided the disco equipment, he set up his own discos during lunchtime.
Arnau emailed parents in the community beforehand explaining what he was going to do. He put up black paper over the classroom windows for ambience and then he charged a can for attending his fab disco.
He raised over 150 cans for the cause!
Some of the boys in our class ran a football workshop for younger students on the primary campus. All of the students had a lot of fun and enjoyed learning more about the game.
